FIEC presents key messages to COMPET Council (29/9/2016)

Date 30/09/2016

SK Minister Peter Žiga, representing the EU-Presidency,
EU Commissioner Elżbieta Bieńkowska and FIEC President Jean-Louis Marchand

During the informal discussion over the Competitiveness lunch session, the Ministers addressed the lack of investment in the Construction sector, the value chain, with a focus on digitalisation, and Single Market aspects.
FIEC passed on the message that:

- No investment, no awarded contracts and no completed projects means: no growth, no jobs, no future!

- BIM (Building Information Modelling/ Management) is the future for our industry and our clients.
We have to ensure that it can be used by the entire value chain, in particular SMEs!

- Mobility within the Single Market should be facilitated and promoted, but must remain an opportunity not an obligation

- The unique character of our industry as a "goods producing service" has to be taken into consideration!

- The regulatory shortcoming of CE-marking needs urgent action!

Construction is not the problem, Construction is the solution!
