The pillars of the project consist of Sustainable Development (Smart Cities), Human Centric Lighting and Open Innovation. The lightingforpeople platform informs in detail about case studies, product innovations and academic achievements.

Sustainable Development in Smart Cities: The energy saving potential of SSL is well known. The work in the project stresses that SSL is even more important for the social and economic dimensions of sustainable development. Various case studies and recommendation for green business opportunities can be found here.
Human Centric Lighting: Light is the most powerful regulator of the day-night-rhythm of people, and has the power to energize, relax, increase alertness, cognitive performance and mood.
Therefore, a Human Centric Lighting solution for a given non-visual effect requires a tailor-made design, based on an understanding of the personal and environmental conditions.
