POLICY MEETS PROPERTY: A COMBINED PERSPECTIVE ON ENERGY EFFICIENCY IN BUILDINGS

With the participation of European Commissioners Miguel Arias Cañete and Günther Oettinger, this session is a unique opportunity to bring together high-level decision makers from the buildings sector and policy makers to discuss one of the key challenges of the European energy trajectory: the steady, cost-effective improvement of energy performance of buildings in the next three decades, in view of the decarbonisation of building stocks.

This event gathers a wide participation from the buildings value chain, with a focus on property owners, to highlight and discuss the challenges on energy efficiency in buildings for the next decades, combining a policy perspective and a building sector’s field perspective informed by the long-term objectives of the EU.

The event is designed to:

- Achieve a better understanding in the buildings value chain of goals set by EU policies and how policies can support achieving these goals;

- Achieve a better understanding of the drivers that augment policy impacts on the ground (in particular in relation to financing);

- Highlight challenges of the sector, with regard to long-term EU Objectives and issue high-level recommendations to policy makers and building sector’s players.

- Discuss proposals and measures to reduce carbon emissions of the building sector based on the principles of voluntariness, cost-effectiveness and open-minded approach to technology between policy makers and the property industry.

This event is featuring keynote speeches and an expert panel bringing together high-level representatives from the real estate and building sector, EU policy makers, and other energy efficiency market stakeholders.

FIEC President Kjetil Tonning encourages contractors and other industries in the ecosystem to collaborate with researchers and participate in the future Horizon Europe programme, to find new ways of achieving decarbonisation.
