Organised by FIEC's Belgian member, Embuild, the Open Site Day dedicated to the construction worksites in Belgium, Journée Chantiers Ouverts, will be held on Sunday, 25th May (doors open from 10h00 to 17h00). Across the country, around a hundred construction sites, visitors will be offered a "behind-the-scene" look at the building sector and daily work. An overview of all the construction sites that joined this special initiative is available on this website.
How to participate?
Site visits are free-of-charge and open to all. You only need to register if this is mentioned on the site information sheet (fiche), as some companies offer guided tours and are arranged by time slot. There is also an option to take a virtual tour of some selected construction sites: check the site information sheet to find out if your target site is physical or virtual, or: apply the filter in the search bar.
As the constructors and workers jointly affirmed to announce the event, this is "a day where we proudly showcase our knowledge and expertise (...). We challenge clichés and prove that our sector has fully embraced new technologies: digital, sustainable, innovative and alternative". Together, they will tell the story behind major projects. But also, some smaller and more personal construction "dreams", as they are "building the future and repairing the past".
