In many EU Member States construction companies are confronted with a shortage of workforce and/or with workers who do not have the right skills needed on the market. This is due to many different factors. Amongst others, the industry is characterised by a high number of job profiles, which are undergoing a rapid transformation due to the greening and the digitalisation of the sector.
This situation is an opportunity to attract and retain young people and more women in the sector. But at the same time, the current workforce is ageing and a number of workers need to be upskilled and/or reskilled.
Although vocational training and education is a national competence, FIEC gives great importance and provides support to cooperation and exchange of best practice between Member States.
