- FIEC's internal working structure is based on three main commissions, under the responsibility of several Vice-Presidents :
- The Economic and Legal Commission (ECO), which deals, amongst others, with issues such as statistics, public procurement, the financing and maintenance of infrastructure
- The Social Commission (SOC), which deals with training and education, labour law and labour mobility, health and safety at the workplace
- The Technical & Environmental Commission (TEC), dealing with standards, energy efficiency, circular economy and the environment, as well as research, development and innovation.
Besides these Commissions, there are specific working groups dealing with issues such as Sustainability and Housing. Together with the EIC, FIEC also set up since 2022 a joint Task Force dedicated to "Ukraine".
