On 28 September FIEC Director General, Domenico Campogrande, signed the Letter of Intent that set the launching of the European Road Alliance.

Initiated by the European Asphalt Pavement Association (EAPA), the alliance aims to bring together organisations representing road builders, operators, pavement technologies and materials. Its purpose is to give the European road sector a common voice and strengthen recognition of the role roads play in competitiveness, mobility and territorial cohesion. Cooperation across these activities can help bring practical experience into European policy discussions.

The alliance’s areas of focus include road investment and safety, alongside the challenges of climate resilience and decarbonisation. Circular use of materials, digitalisation, skills and innovation are also part of its scope. These issues are closely connected for companies responsible for building and maintaining road infrastructure.

The cooperation is intended to support joint policy contributions, exchanges with EU institutions and the sharing of expertise across the road sector.
